William (Bill) M. Coughlin has over 30 years experience with a major petroleum and convenience retailing company. He has had numerous assignments, both domestically and internationally. Having spent most of his career on the retail side of the business he has an extensive background in the Fuels & C- Store arena including achieving retail excellence, staffing, training and controls.
Bill’s international assignments include a stint in the Middle East where he lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries as well as Africa developing Lubricant and Aviation business. His most recent assignment was in Europe where he developed and implemented personnel selection, training & execution strategies that were used to stream a chain of company-operated Fuels/C- Store sites in a highly competitive, mature market.
His U.S.A. assignments have taken him from coast to coast where he has worked in sales and management positions. He has coached and advised retailers as well as wholesale distributors throughout the U.S. on the proper operation of Fuel/C- Stores from site selection to daily store activities. Bill has hands-on experience as an Operations Manager for Fuels/C- Stores in a highly competitive Sun Belt market. He has been deeply involved in the introduction of an innovative C- Store marketing approach that today is a benchmark for the industry.
Bill resides in the Charleston, S.C. area. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Political Science.
